WTS closing early
It is now over 90 degrees in our office and we're all starting to suffer, so we're closing a bit early today - 4:00 p.m. Central time.
If the cooling system isn't able to reduce the temperatures in our office soon, we may have to close early for the next few days. Please stay tuned in case we have to further reduce our hours.
Thanks - and we hope everyone out there is staying cool!
Hot in Here
WTS is heating up. Literally.
Due to a chilled water equipment failure and shortage, over 40 buildings on the west side of the UW-Madison campus have had their air conditioning shut off since yesterday morning, including Wendt Commons Library where WTS is located.
There's never a dull moment at WTS....

WTS Welcomes Rachel Watters as New Director
Rachel Watters has been appointed as Director of Wisconsin TechSearch (WTS). Deborah Helman, Director of Wendt Commons, says, "I believe her leadership ability will help position WTS to take advantage of new opportunities and build upon the outstanding service that WTS currently provides."
Rachel has worked at WTS as a Resource Sharing Librarian since 2002. In addition to providing outstanding document delivery services to WTS clients, she has lead WTS marketing efforts, including the implementation of the CashNet service that allows WTS to take many forms of credit card payments, as well as contributing to many service and work flow improvements. When she's not at WTS, Rachel and her partner Erik enjoy caring for their two young sons, Jack and Nate, working on real estate investments, and visiting their families in northern Wisconsin.
Please join us in congratulating and welcoming Rachel as she transitions into her new role.

Thought some of you might be interested in this helpful bit from 3 Geeks and a Law blog:
Geeky Tip: Moving Data from MS Word to Excel
By the way, we love getting request lists in either Word or Excel if you don't want to copy and paste all of your cites into our request form. Just fill out our request form and in the citation box, note that you'll be sending the requests as an email attachment. Then send the file to wts@engr.wisc.edu. It's that easy!

WTS at Upcoming Conferences
Conference season is fast approaching, and WTS will again be exhibiting this year.
First up is SLA's Pharmaceutical and Health Technology Division Spring Meeting in Orlando next month. This is the first time we've been to this conference and Rachel is looking forward to telling the attendees about our services. More information about this meeting can be found at units.sla.org/division/dpht/meetings/

Karen will be exhibiting at the SLA conference in Philadelphia in June. If you'll be at the conference, please stop by booth #1133 and say hello! Conference information is at sla2011.tornado1.com.
Finally, we plan to be at the International Federated Library Association (IFLA) Interlending and Document Supply (ILDS) conference in Chicago in September. We've never been able to go to this conference before - past conferences have been in Singapore, Germany, Estonia, and Australia. Since Chicago is only about 2 hours from Madison, we're excited that we can go this year. You can find more information about the conference at ilds2011.org.
What conferences do YOU attend? Let Rachel know at rwatters@engr.wisc.edu and we'll consider them for next year.
